Future
With an eye on the future, we have cultivated over ten different grape varieties under protective tunnels. This dedicated site, set apart from our traditional field vines, allows us to experiment with grapes that would typically be unsuited to the UK climate — including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Gewürztraminer. Thanks to advanced tunnel technology, such as improved light transmission, diffusion, and thermal control, we've been able to maintain quality, increase yield and push the boundaries of what’s possible in British viticulture.
a Holistic Future
The expertise and vigilance of our Vineyard team monitors and identifies the pests commonly associated with grapes. This expertise allows us to implement timely, targeted responses that not only protect our crops but also support our commitment to sustainability. This understanding gives us the chance to enhance management strategies within the vineyard, and promote biodiversity.
In line with this approach, we’ve introduced the planting of ‘cover crops’. These crops play a vital role in improving soil health by recycling essential nutrients back into the ground, which in turn benefits vine growth and fruit quality. Beyond soil enrichment, cover crops create a thriving habitat for beneficial insects and pollinators, contributing to a balanced ecosystem, holistically strengthening the resilience of our vineyard.

Future
Our in-house laboratory provides essential support for quality, innovation, and consistency within our wine-making process. Equipped with advanced technology, the lab analyses data from grape composition and fermentation through to the microbiological health of the wine, guiding informed decision-making at every stage of production. It also plays a key role in research and development, allowing us to experiment with new grape varieties, blends, and winemaking techniques, empowering Laurence, our Head Winemaker, to craft wines of a consistently high quality.
